Impact Summary

Increased new user engagement and reduced the learning curve through a complete restructuring of the Information Architecture: breaking down 6 long and complex tutorials into 13 short, focused guided tours.

01 / SCENARIO

Context and Challenge

Nelogica's Home Broker is an extremely powerful tool with dozens of native features (Order Ticket, Order List, Portfolio, etc.). However, power without usability generates frustration. When new users tried to learn how to use these tools through our "Guided Tour" system, they hit a wall of complexity.

I conducted an analysis of the current interface, and the diagnosis was clear: the tutorials had too many steps and massive blocks of text. Furthermore, the navigation required users to read information at the top of the screen and then look down at the footer to advance, creating a visual "ping-pong" effect.

The Core Problem

The learning flow overloaded the user cognitively. A high cognitive load during Onboarding (first steps) is fatal to retention, as users feel incapable of using the platform and abandon it before even seeing its value. We needed to transform a painful learning process into something fluid, direct, and engaging.

02 / STRATEGY

My Role and Processes

  • Usability Audit I used the Double Diamond framework to structure the process. My first action was to dive into the current interface, mapping out reading friction, navigation issues, and heuristic flaws step by step.
  • Onboarding Benchmarking I looked at the market to analyze how top software handled user education. I validated that the gold standard consisted of: clear division of steps, a clean look, short texts (focused UX Writing), and tutorials with a maximum of 5 steps to avoid fatiguing the reader.
  • Information Architecture (IA) Restructuring The major challenge wasn't just visual, but content-related. I analyzed every line of text from the old system and restructured the journey. I divided the content into two clear mental categories: "First Steps" (the basics) and "Market Tools" (advanced).
  • Agile Prototyping Since the project's main constraint was the text layout and the slicing of steps, I chose to skip low-fidelity wireframes and design directly in high-fidelity, accelerating the testing and approval cycles.

Business Impact

Learning
Curve

By making it easier to understand complex tools (like the Order Ticket and Order List), we ensured that new users could extract value from the Home Broker much faster.

Increased
Engagement

The use of gamification and the division into short steps (micro-learning) reduced abandonment in the tutorials, keeping the user immersed in the product longer.

05 / TAKEAWAYS

Project Lessons

01 / COGNITIVE LOAD REDUCTION

The best feature is useless if the user doesn't know how to use it. Simplifying and focusing on reducing cognitive load is key to retaining customers.

02 / MICRO-LEARNING AND SHORT FLOWS

Replacing long tutorials with small blocks focused on a single action prevents abandonment and improves learning absorption.

03 / GAMIFICATION FOR RETENTION

Celebrating achievements generates peaks of satisfaction that keep users engaged and motivated to continue exploring new product features.

04 / CONTINUOUS DELIVERY

Weekly design deliverables. A continuous implementation flow with no technical bottlenecks and highly positive feedback from the team.
